Prince William Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in Brazil

The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America during November, according to royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a gathering ahead of the climate summit, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

Father and son were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the United Kingdom administration.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

The King has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.

Palace insiders have described Prince William's attendance at the next COP as assuming an important role in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were welcomed attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and government officials.

This involvement included speaking in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.

Earthshot Awards Link

The COP30 summit will align with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the previous day he attends the COP summit on the sixth of November.

In recent days the prince described the prize competitors as "heroes of our time".

Royal Climate Legacy

King Charles has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the critical dangers challenging our world over planetary heating, global temperature increases and biodiversity loss," the sovereign addressed attendees.
