Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim confesses he cannot conceal from his poor record and says it is expected that club icons are criticizing him.

Recently, the club's all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney stated on his show that "the spirit has vanished" from his old team.

Amorim has achieved just eighteen wins from his forty-nine games in control, featuring 9 out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has still to secure two consecutive victories.

Although high-level Old Trafford sources are certain that the club owner continues to be behind the manager, failure to overcome recently promoted Sunderland on the weekend will ignite renewed speculation about his role heading into another fortnight international break.

"This is normal," commented the Portugal-born manager, when asked about Rooney's remarks. "One can't escape from the performance."

"Furthermore you have the legacy from the previous campaign, [although] that period for me is irrelevant."

Supporter Response and Present Circumstances

United's fans stayed behind their manager following the previous campaign's dismal showing, when they ended up fifteenth in the league - their worst showing since the 1973/74 relegation campaign - and were defeated in the European final, in the belief that this season would be substantially improved.

Amorim promised supporters the circumstances would get better because he had additional opportunity to work with his squad without the weekly commitment of continental football.

However is not been how the opening six matches have materialised as Manchester United have endured 3 losses already and are currently fourteenth in the league.

Coach's Reaction to Concerns

When asked what guarantees he could provide followers that the position will change, Amorim stated: "This is not the moment to talk, it is the moment to show."

"Personally analyze the games in the current campaign and, for me, they are completely varied, but I have nothing to say at this moment."
